Around 175,000 South African men and women cheating on their partners may have their details exposed, after a hacker group attacked adultery website, Ashley Madison.
According to a report by RDM and the New York Times, sensitive information including photographs and “sexual fantasies” will be leaked by the hacker group unless the site closes down.
Ashley Madison admitted its site has been hit by hackers who may have obtained personal information about its members.
The group of hackers, called Impact Team, said they stole information on the 37 million members of Ashley Madison. To prevent the data from being released, the company needed to shut down the site, the group said.
The hackers vowed to release the names, passwords, and financial details of members if Ashley Madison did not close its operation.
Ashley Madison’s parent company said it was investigating the matter.
