Stop Burning Schools and fight the ANC

Cape Town – EFF chief whip Floyd Shivambu has again told the people of Vuwani in Limpopo to direct their anger at the ANC.

Speaking during a debate in Parliament on the crisis in Vuwani, which has seen schools burned down and vandalised, Shivambu called on the people in the area to stop burning schools and to take the fight to the ANC.

“Direct that anger at the ANC, and the correct platform to do so is August 3, during the local government elections. They must go out in their numbers and vote out the ANC in Vuwani,” he said on Tuesday.

The chaos in the area follows a decision by the Municipal Demarcation Board to incorporate Vuwani into a new municipality.

Shivambu said the country must never allow communities to be incited to violence by ANC internal squabbles.

He questioned the lack of economic activity in the area, blaming it on the ANC.

Shivambu said the EFF would improve the lives of those in Vuwani, and called for them to give the party a chance to take charge.

His comments follow party leader Julius Malema’s call on Sunday for angry residents to redirect their anger towards the ANC.

Addressing a packed hall in Gugulethu in the Western Cape, Malema said they should take the fight to the ruling party.

“You have even gone to the extent of burning schools. What a barbaric act. In the same areas where you are burning schools, there are ANC offices. You never burn them. It’s not school that gave you demarcation; it’s the ANC. Go to the ANC . . . Fight with them, not the schools,” Malema said.
