The duo will pay a visit to Durban in July to support the call for sustained global funding to end HIV/AIDS.
After 15 years, the International AIDS Conference will return to South Africa and in commemoration the Keep the Promise 2016 Rally and March will take place through the Durban CBD on Saturday 16 July.
Headlined by Latifah and Common, the event will be followed by a free concert at the city’s Sahara Stadium Kingsmead.
This will be the first time that Latifah will be visiting the country, while rapper Common will be performing for the first time to a South African audience.
“I am excited to be part of the Keep The Promise Concert in Durban, South Africa. It’s my first time in South Africa and it feels good to be going for such a great cause,” Latifah said in statement.
Local acts including Mi Casa and Big Nuz as well as Zambian-born artist B-Flow will perform live during the concert; with local personalities Proverb and Ayanda-Allie Paine acting as MCs.
