Born Kgothatso Kgomo, Kay Geezles is one of South Africa’s most promising up-and-coming artists. The young MC, who originates from Katlehong and was born in 1992, has long had a passion for music and writing, which has culminated in him pursuing a career as a performing artist. After spending time perfecting his songwriting and rapping skills, he started making appearances at local hip-hop sessions, developing a reputation as the king of the turn up.
In 2010 Fourtwenty Records saw his potential and invited him under their roof. Shortly after he started recording, Kaygeezles performed at the Chrishani Mall’s birthday party, clubs such as Roxy’s in Melville, Homebase in Sandton, Solomzi place in Palmridge, as well as doing an interview for MTT V, a community TV station that caters to the Midrand and Tembisa area, as well as making an appearance on YFM’s Fullclip. In 2012 he released his self titled EP “Kaygeezles” and did an interview on a local radio station Kasi FM to promote the EP. In the same year he scored an opportunity through reverbnation to go overseas to tour with hugo boss promotional campaign because of his hit track “Do like I Do”, but missed out on the chance due to financial challenges. But that did not stop the young rapper’s dreams of being in the entertainment industry.
Kaygeezles was also part of an organization called the K1 Kollective, which saw a string of talented rappers such as Kanivo, Mr Grindsmith, Khathutshelo Brezze afukata, L tech, Jupitor, and a few others, come together to form a movement to empower each other’s music careers. This served as a learning experience that assisted him in understanding the music industry’s aspects better and allowed him to develop a mind map towards achieving his goals.
In 2013 Kaygeezles saw his single “sphuz’widdit” gain him a strong following on social networks and do well on downloads, proving that he is heading for nothing but greatness.
At the moment Kaygeezles is working towards releasing his debut studio E.P. titled “due time”. Famous for his unique flows and delivery of exciting songs, this E.P. promises to do just that. The project opens up with a party banger “Namhlanje” produced by Treasured Soul, and features a heavy bassline and a sing along chorus that compels crowds to go crazy.
