We showed four ladies five of the latest cars and asked them what they think each one says about its owner. You’ll be surprised to learn just how much your choice of car says about you
I would assume he’s quite accomplished because it’s such a high-end vehicle. If we’re speaking about this Maserati in particular, then I think that this is a man with sophisticated and understated taste, because some Maseratis can be really ostentatious. In as much as it’s flashy because it’s a Maserati, it’s the choice of someone who’s secure in himself because he doesn’t need shove his prosperity in your face.
Oh my gosh! This is a panty-dropper. This car says about the guy exactly what DESTINY MAN says, that he is bold and distinguished, especially in black. He’s an older gentleman who’s well-established.
He’s rich. He’s also trying to be counter-culture, so instead of going for a more conventional moneyed brand, and being seen as a BEE Audi or BMW-driving dude, he goes for this Maserati which is understated in its own sophisticated way.
He is old, white and rich – the kind of guy that doesn’t appeal to me.
This is a guy who is a family man; he has enough space for his kids. I’d also say it’s a guy that’s a businessman or a salesman because they travel quite a bit. I think this is someone who is practical, and I actually find it attractive.
He’s level-headed, takes family quite seriously. And a lot of the time, you’d find that the wife elbowed him into getting this car.
He’s probably married and has kids, even if the carseat isn’t in this car. He knows that he’s going to have kids in his car so he wants something safe, steady and reliable. It’s not flashy though it might be functional, so he’s not trying to make a statement or be in with the guys.
He’s middle-aged, a husband and a father. This is a family guy. He takes his family on weekend trips outdoors. If you’re single, stay away from him and if he says he’s single, he’s lying.
This guy is in a very stable marriage and has two children.
Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon AMG
Now this is a blesser! This is the guy who’s probably done as well as the guy in the Maserati but needs to display it a little bit more aggressively. It’s a beautiful car, and it’s a status car. I’d also assume that a guy like this is outdoorsy, I think he’s active and he’s new to ‘blessing’. I think this is someone who’s just hit the big time, and it’s a bit of a mid-life crisis car.
I think this is the guy who has made it, an older gentleman who’s not necessarily a family man. In fact, he’s probably divorced. He has it all and this is just one of his cars. He’s living his best life.
New money. The size, the structure, it’s very attention-grabbing. This is someone who wants to make a statement, to let people know that he’s ‘arrived’. This is also not his only car, and he’s probably divorced, going through some mid-life crisis and he just wants to enjoy life.
This is definitely new money, the Fourways and Dainfern type of guy who will tell you how much money he has. This car says “Hi, I’m new money, and I want you to see me”.
2016 Mini-Cooper Convertible
Uhm… he’s hipster or he’s gay most of the time, and this is me just going by the men I’ve met who drive a Mini Cooper. I think it’s become a very feminine car
I think he’s on the ladder to success and climbing, but I don’t think he’s found himself yet. I say this because the Mini Cooper is a very playful car, and it’s also a bit feminine.
I think he’s young, probably in advertising, funky and upwardly mobile.
Audi RS6 Avant
This can go multiple ways. This is a creative who’s a little bit older, maybe mid-30s. He either hasn’t settled yet or it’s that newly married guy who needs to be in the Volvo XC90 league, but is not quite ready to let go of bachelordom. I like how this is a hybrid of a station wagon and a sports car, which signifies a dual personality so it’s a guy who’s quite flexible and has exceptional taste.
I am very confused by this car because it says ‘I’m a family guy’ but at the same time ‘I like the streets’. So I’d say it’s a guy who enjoys the fast life, but also understands that he has a family. What I like about this guy is that he hasn’t sacrificed his taste, and neither has he sacrificed his family, he’s found a compromise.
A man who drives this is probably trying to blend practicality with a bit of funk. He’s not quite ready to let go of his youth, but recognises that he needs to have a practical vehicle. He’s probably married, I reckon with slightly older kids, and he needs a bigger trunk to fit in everyone’s school stuff and equipment, but when there are no kids in the car he can still cruise the streets and feel cool.
Izinja ze-life! This is a beautiful car. Somehow the station-wagon effect on the sports car makes this vehicle more sexy. This guy could be a family man, but maybe not. He’s a guy who likes simplicity – this car doesn’t scream at you but still forces you to look at it –- that’s the guy driving it. He’s the guy who walks into a room demanding no one’s attention, but his presence draws everyone’s eyes.
