Free wifi for taxis and taxi ranks in South Africa
Telkom, in partnership with the South African National Taxi Council (Santaco) launch free wi-fi both at taxi ranks and in minibuses around South Africa.
The chief executive of Santaco, Nkululeko Buthelezi, has reported to Talk Radio 702 that this new project is a part of improving services the organisation offers.
This new access to the wifi connection will not cost the consumer, reports Buthelezi. The service was launched last Thursday, and will run for a short period for now, as a testing phase. Adverting will be used to help fund the project. The wifi access will allow commuters the chance to browse the internet, search for jobs, perform quick online transactions and interact on social networks.
