Metro FM DJ and presenter Sam Lehoko of The Morning Fix has been fired by the SABC for allegedly cooking lies about her health.
SABC spokesman Kaizer Kganyago confirmed that Lehoko was given the boot for her wayward ways.
“We can confirm that the SABC has terminated the services of Ms. Lehoko due to material breach of her employment contract between herself and the SABC,” he said
In July, Sunday World reported that while Lehoko had told the SABC she was sick, she had in fact dumped the radio station for “an opportunity of a lifetime”.
Said opportunity of a lifetime was shooting her new DStv’s Vuzu Amp hip-hop reality television talent search show The Hustle.
Popularly known as Sammy Sosa, Lehoko was evasive when asked why she had not been on air since telling her bosses at the national broadcaster that she had been sick.
Lehoko, who joined Metro FM in April amid much fanfare with DJ Mo Flava, real name Moeti Tsiki, refused to comment when contacted for her side of the story.
“I can’t comment on that, nothing has been put out there. It’s not for the public at the moment,” she said.
In the first few weeks of her absence, her The Morning Fix co-host DJ Mo Flava announced to the listeners that Lehoko was off sick and listeners pitied the former Y-FM DJ.
It seems Pearl Thusi has been brought in as Lehoko’s replacement, but listeners have been kept in the dark about the future of the bubbly Lehoko.
Born in East London, Eastern Cape, Lehoko grew up in England, Cape Town and Joburg and is from a prominent political family. The girl of the moment is also the face of pay-per-view music channel Channel O and has other presenting roles on V Entertainment and Vuzu TV.
She will be presenting the grand finale of The Hustle on Vuzu Amp at 7.30pm on Tuesday.
