A report by Automobile mag in Europe claims that Mercedes-Benz is developing a four-door version tentatively called AMG GT 4 of its new AMG GT Coupe. According to this unsubstantiated report, the AMG GT will spawn something of a Porsche Panamera competitor, designed and produced by the AMG division, just like the old SLS AMG and of course the AMG GT itself. Such a car would appear in late 2018 or early 2019.
As to where the CLS will then play, given that it is the brand’s designated 4-door coupe is unclear. But apparently this car will sit four people including driver, feature a coupe-like rear end, a very low roofline, use premium materials and technologies, and connect with various existing Mercedes-Benz engines. Some of these engines should include a 3.0-litre V6 with 270kW and a4.0-litre twin turbo V8 pulling out something north of 420kW.
